took a train to bradford from london so that i could give a keynote speech which brought on what i can only imagine to be a close encounter with an anxiety attack., i've never had one, so i don't know for sure, but i felt extreme discomfort travelling in the restrictive chairs in economy class which normally wouldn't bother me. i felt trapped an anxious the entire time which was very unexpected. no trains for me except the tube from now on. people are still not offering their seats to me on the tube despite being most obviously pregnant. the people who very occasionally do offer their seats are foreign men - no brits male or female. fascinating. alternatively, comeple strangers in the us walk up to me to ask me how things are going.
travel on virgin Atlantic upper class was comfortable - i highly recommend it for travelling mums for long haul travel. i got a nice hand massage on board and was able to sleep in a fully reclined position. one of the flight attendants was a complete bitch and seemed to take offense at the fact that i was travelling at all. while she sweetly and diligently passed out drinks, food and other items to the other passengers, i had to repeatedly ask for mine. likewise, i had the lady at the check in counter at continental yell at me for lifting my bag on to the weight machine even though she didn't offer assistance and knew i was travelling alone. i've got the full body pat down for all of my travels. i think they think i have a bomb not a baby in my belly. i have not problem with them checking tho!
