Scans & Rumpshakin'

We had our 12 week scan and blood work today. We had some trouble getting a good view of the baby. Bambino was sitting straight up and appeared to be looking straight into the camera. It was too funny. Baby's already adopted the British upright and uptight posture! ;) The technician asked me to shake my booty to get the baby movin'. With my shoulders still on the bed, I arched up and started some rap party pleasers in my head and shook m'booty worrying that the baby would think we got caught up in a tsunami. Completely unimpressed baby sat there and brought his/her hand to his/her mouth a few times - I'm convinced they were yawns of boredom. I was asked to walk around, continue dancing and drinking as much water as possible.

I walked around and luckily my friend R arrived with a yummy starbuck's which hit the spot (mine and bambino's). I then went in for another scan to see if the baby moved. Well, the baby did more than move. The little thing was swimming around outshining mum's attempt at bump & grind. Although bambino decided to face my spine, we were able to complete the scan. We saw the heart beating, all organs and appendages appear to be normal and... THE BABY IS TWICE THE SIZE OF THE AVERAGE BABY! I'm a little worried about this part. The doctors say it's absolutely fine that he/she literally registered off the chart, but I was worrying about me in 7 months time! Of course, the baby's growth may slow down throughout the course of the pregnancy, but for now he/she is growing very quickly and is very very big. Uh-oh! :) If the baby keeps growing at this rate, I'll be ballooning in no time! Thank god for this year's love of baby doll style tops and dresses! Topshop here I come!

I'm still remaining relatively low key and keeping the news to close (not geographically ;) ) friends and family until the job front progresses. My old boss got fired on Friday and his boss has contacted me about potentially going back to the media company in another capacity (since my role has now been divided into three directors' roles), so let's see how the conversation goes. Thanks for all your support and well wishes so far! This is an exciting time and I feel very lucky to share it with you all!

Here's a baby video that will make you smile...
